RESPOND-A welcomes Commission’s disaster risk report

As a project dedicated to increase the capabilities of first responders, RESPOND-A welcomes the European Commission’s report (DG ECHO) “Overview of Natural and Man-made Disaster Risks the European Union May Face“. The EU publication presents the latest available evidence on disaster risks, such as floods, wildfires or diseases, that threaten the EU, drawing on the national risk assessments developed by the EU Member States and on the Commission’s cross-sectoral policy and scientific work. In light of the climate emergency, RESPOND-A also welcomes the recent creation of the Knowledge Centre for Earth Observation, by the Joint Research Centre, within the European Commission.  The Knowledge Centre will contribute to greater monitoring capabilities of the EU’s atmosphere and environmental landscape, therefore providing quicker preparedness actions whenever natural disasters strike.
